MOUNTING TYPES

Sinks can be installed in a few different ways that affect functionality. Kindred sinks are installed through two key mounting types, topmount / drop in and undermount.

  • Drop In / Topmount sinks sit on top of the countertop with a rim surround, a favorite for quick kitchen upgrades due to the ease of installation and versatility of placement. These sinks can be installed with most countertop materials.
  • Undermount sinks attach to the underside of countertops allowing for a smooth transition from countertop to sink. These sinks require a solid surface countertop and it is recommended to work with an installer to get a seamless fit.

MEASURE YOUR CABINET SPACE

When choosing a sink, consider the size of the cabinet the sink will fit into. Measure the available opening of the sink with a tape measure as well as the available depth of the cabinet. You can easily sort Kindred sinks in the product explorer based on these measurements. If you’re replacing an old sink, make sure the new one has the same dimensions so it fits securely into the cut-out of your existing countertop.

NUMBER OF BOWLS AND DEPTH

Depending on the size of the cabinet, consider how many basins would fit the space and the desired depth of the sink. Deep capacity sinks are perfect for soaking and washing stacks of dishes, and offer greater capacity than traditional tapered bowls.

When choosing a sink the placement of the drain is important. A rear drain provides more usable space in the sink and beneath it, allowing glassware to stand up on the flat, even bottom, whereas a sink drain close to the front ensures comfort while working.

Kindred sinks come in single and double bowl styles to suit every kitchen design. Single bowl sinks offer large capacity in a sink, whereas double basin bowls provide one side to wash and one for drying

MATERIAL MATTERS

A big consideration when choosing a sink is the type of material used. Whether stainless steel or granite, each offer unique features and are durable long-lasting materials.

  • Choosing a stainless steel sink in 18-20-gauge steel ensures durability and easy-to-clean bowls. Look for special pads and undercoating to reduce clanking and splashing noises, so you can enjoy a quiet sink—even during bustling clean-up times.
  • Sinks made of granite are also easy-to-clean, scratch and  impact resistant to retain its new appearance for years. With an extensive color palette and a variety of sizes they are  sure to fit any kitchen space and style.
